biography

Asim Al-Chalabi was born in Baghdad. At the age of ten he started to play the oud. Since 1980 he has been living in Vienna/Austria where he studied musical education for the cello and the piano.

Asim Al-Chalabi has been giving solo performances as well as with ensembles in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Great Britain, Tunisia and Usbekisthan.

Asim is working as a teacher for oud in Vienna, he is giving private lessons and he is also music teacher in several institutions.

Asim Al-Chalabi is creating compositions for solo oud and he keeps on concerning himself with with Arabic, Turkish and Persian music.
