Billy Robinson - "The Candy Kid"
William Brannon "Billy" Robinson is one of the most interesting players on the Non-Pedal Steel Guitar which he has played throughout his whole career. At the age of eighteen he started playing with George Morgan, one of the unforgettable Country Crooners of the 40's and 50's and became the youngest member of the Grand Ole Opry. His technique uses a wide variety of bar slants, opening almost unlimited musical options for him.
He is at home in traditional Country Music and Swing, his famous bar slant technique fits classics like "Candy Kisses" (he played on the original recording by George Morgan!) and Swing standards like "Tea For Two" equally well.
Billy Robinson is a member of the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame.
