Lloyd Green - "Mr. Nashville Sound"

Lloyd Lamar Green was born on October 3, 1937 in Avent, Mississippi. He started his musical career on the road, playing for artists like Faron Young and Jean Shepard. In the 1960's he came to Nashville and soon made himself a name as studio musician. Within a few years he became THE session player when it came to recording in Nashville. It is virtually impossible to listen to Country Music of the 60's and 70's without hearing the beautiful playing of this man. Johnny Paycheck, Charley Pride, Faron Young, Freddie Hart, Gene Watson, Jeanne Pruett, Lynn Anderson, Tammy Wynette, Tommy Collins, Johnny Russell,...- the list of singers who had Lloyd Green on their records could continue on and on! Lloyd also recorded several solo albums over the years featuring his outstanding performances, like "Steel Rides", "Ten Shades of Green" and Lloyd's of Nashville". His latest album "Lloyd Green...Revisited" (released in 2003) is another milestone in his career and will become a standard for all steel players.

Lloyd recently announced that he is back to recording, with current top stars like Alan Jackson and Steve Wariner. Welcome Back, Lloyd!

Lloyd Green is a member of the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame.
