Tom Brumley - "The Buckaroo"
Thomas Rexton Brumley was born on November 12, 1935 in Stella, Missouri. He is the son of famous songwriter and composer Albert E. Brumley ("I'll Fly Away"). Tom started his musical career, like so many other players, working in small clubs and playing local recording sessions. On occasion Buck Owens, one of the rising stars in Country Music, heard him play and offered him to be a member of his Buckaroos. The rest is history. Tom and Guitarist/Fiddler Don Rich soon became key musicians in the band and were responsible for creating Buck's distinctive sound, still known and appreciated today as "West Coast Sound". Artists like Marty Stuart, Dwight Yoakam, Radney Foster, Chris Hillman and Herb Pedersen freely admit that Buck Owens and the Buckaroos were one of their major influences.
In the late 60's and early 70's almost every single Buck Owens released went to No. 1 in the Charts, among them the unforgettable "Together Again". The solo Tom Brumley played in this song immediately made a name for him in the business and is still among the all-time favorites of Steel Guitar Players around the world!
Tom Brumley is a member of the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame.
