Anthology Vol.2 (1996)
Johnalso recorded the first demo of Real Love at the end
of 1977 under the title Real Life. Contrary to Free As A Bird he constantly
returned to overwork that track, until his death in 1980. John used some words and music for
the tracks Watching The Wheels and I'm Stepping Out from the 1980 and 1984
LPs Double Fantasy and Milk And Honey (both recorded in 1980).
It should have been used for the musical The Ballad Of John And Yoko as well.
At the end of 1979, about a year before his death, John recorded seven demos of the song
which was now entitled Real Love. Take 7 appeared in 1988 on the soundtrack album
Imagine-John Lennon. The version the "Fab Three" recorded as an overworked
track happens to be an earlier one. It too was handed out Paul by
Yoko in 1994. The maxi single was released in 1996, shortly before the release of the LP Anthology 2.
Besides Real Love the album features several unreleased recordings
and live sequences from the band's tours until 1966 as well as unreleased versions of their hits up until 1968.
