Let It Be

The last filming project of The Beatles should show the band recording their new album. Filming began on 2 January 1969 at the Twickenham Studios under the working title Get Back. The group was filming there until 17 January, then left Twickenham Studios to film at Apple Studios for the rest of the month. On the 30 January they filmed the legendary rooftop session. The Beatles found themselves on the roof of the Apple building in the Savile Row to do their very last concert. When filming was finished they had 30 hours of music and 96 hours of film in the can. By the time they were filming Let It Be the mood was down on the ground already but this is hardly seen in the film because of the running cameras. Only on a few occasions the frustration showed, for instance when George said to Paul: "I'll play whatever you want me to play or I won't play at all when you don't want me to play". But all in all this movie shows a band which is still a genius even when it's about to break up. The film was premiered on 20 May 1970 at the London Pavillon.
