The Beatles (White Album) (1968)

The Tension Album, as this double set was once reagarded as by Paul McCartney is for many people the greatest masterpiece made by the Fab Four. Songs like Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da became worldhits, and also the other tracks are really great. The most tracks were not recorded with every member present at the session though. In particular George and Ringo left the band for a short time. Within the band the end was already in sight but that didn't change anything about the the music's quality. For the first time the Beatles let other musicians play with them. Apart from George Martin Eric Clapton was the first "non Beatle" to be present in the studio at the recording sessions. The guitar solo on While My Guitar Gently weeps was played by him which again was some kind of innovation within The Beatles. Other splendid songs (apart from Revolution No.9) are Happiness Is A Warm Gun, I Will and also Ringo's first own composition on record, Don't Pass Me By, to name only three of them.
