WHAT I SHOULD THINK OVER  B E F O R E  BUYING A GUINEA PIG

  1. A guinea pig can reach an age up to 10 years und you should be aware that you have to care for it during this time.

  2. All members of your family should get tested for pet-hair allergies.

  3. Although food and litter do not cost a fortune, they mean an additional expense.

  4. There has to be enough space for the cage (but not within all hurly-burly of the entire family, in the kitchen or even on the toilet!).

  5. If you plan a holiday you also have to plan in a person who takes care of your pet.

  6. When the Animal gets sick, you have to count in the arising costs of the veterinarian.

  7. Cavies need daily attention. During this time, even if it's just an hour per day, should really be spent for them.

  8. If you want to let your guinea pig run free in your apartment, you have to put aside valuable goods, like expensive carpets and furniture, otherwise they will get dirty or nibbled at.

  9. If you want to buy a guinea pig for your kid, you should also pay attention, that your child cares enough for it's little friend, because most of the time the beginning enthusiasm for the new animal rapidly fades away.
Small children especially need your help, don't rely on the promises they give you about caring for the animal.

  10. If you already have a guinea pig and want to buy a partner for it, you have to take in account, that the animals might not like each other and have to be parted again.
Also always keep in mind, that even kinship does not guaranty everlasting love between the animals.
