In ihrer Installation 'The Reading Fly' dekonstruiert die in Russland geborene Künstlerin Evy Jokhova niedergeschriebenes Wissen. Aus den Seiten von Romanen, Kurzgeschichten und wissenschaftlichen Büchern schneidet sie Figuren und Muster, die den Büchern entwachsen und dadurch selbst neue Geschichten zu erzählen beginnen. Wortfragmente und Buchstaben verlassen die Bücher als Schwärme von Schmetterlingen und üppig wuchernden Pflanzen.

Evy Jokhova erforscht, hinterfragt und experimentiert mit den Mitteln von Erzählung und Kommunikation und lebt heute als bildende Künstlerin in London, England.

EVY JOKHOVA (Russia / Great Britain) - The Reading Fly

In her installation 'The Reading Fly' the Russian-born artist Evy Jokhova deconstructs printed matter. She cuts images and patterns from the pages of old romance novels, short stories and academic texts. The cut out imagery grows out of the books allowing for them to tell their own stories. Letters and fragments of words fly out of the books as swarms of butterflies and upward growing plants.

In her recent work Evy Jokhova explores, questions and experiments with the subject of narration and communication. The artist lives and works in London, England.
