Restoring the 'Commanderie' was the last project of the
Austrian architect Peter Scheid. He lived and worked in
the South of France for several decades dedicated to the
restoration of old buildings. When he purchased this property,
it was on the verge of decay. This allowed him to realise
his ideas freely and yet to draw inspiration from the
medieval remains. He also kept parts of the enlargements
from the 19th century, when the building was used as a
silk worm farm.
Peter Scheid restored the Commanderie with the help of
his son Jakob Scheid who lives as an artist and designer
in Vienna. Many details owe their fascinating design to
Jakob's ingeniosity.
