It's been exactly three months since the last update. The reason this time was not lazyness or writer's block (though there were some personal things that kept me away from the computer a while as well), the main reason is that in these three months I have been busy working on a new project, a site for downloads only.
I had originally hoped to launch it with the beginning of September, but it turned out to be more work than expected. A more realistic launch date is the beginning of next year.
So far, there are 374 games on the new site, though some of them are still in need of descriptions, 91 of them new. I could probably just smooth it over and launch it very soon, but some structural problems aren't detected until a site has grown to a certain size, as I learned the hard way with this site here. I really want the new site to have a structure that will still work even when it's ten times the size it is now.
I'll try to keep you updated on my progresses, but there will be no more additions to this site in the near future, just small updates when I'm notified of an error or there are some interesting news (see below).
Maybe you know already, since it's really old news: In July, Bethesda released Daggerfall as freeware to celebrate the 15th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls series. Does that mean we'll get a free Morrowind in 2014? We'll see!
One update for today is on the Mancala page. The first edition of Ahl's Basic Computer Games was in 1973, and Geoff Wyvill's Mancala is thus a lot older than I thought, and most likely the first computer implementation of Mancala ever.
Nothing much. I came across a nerd test
, took it, and
posted the results below. So I'm a cool light-weight nerd
!
