My Collection

The PS/2 computers had four-digit numbers. The first two digits are either 85 or 95 and tell you which video card the computer has. 85 models have either a VGA or a XGA-1 card, which had an additional 1024×768, but no 800×600, screen mode. 95 models have an XGA-2 card and the IBM logo on their front panel is shiny blue instead of silver.

85XX

These models had standard VGA (in case of the 25, which I however don't have, MCGA) adapters, usually on board, only the tower models had seperate cards. They could be fitted with aditional 8514/A cards, allowing a 1024×768 resolution at either 16 or 256 colors, depending on the amount of video RAM on the card. These cards are easy to find (I have three of them), but there is not much that supports this standard. The badges of the 85XX models are dark grey, with a silver IBM logo.

I dug this out of a trash can. It was in perfect working order. The only not MCA, but ISA-based model in my collection.
286-10MHz, 1MB RAM, DOS 3.3.
50
This was the first old computer I ever bought, and it introduced me to the PS/2 series. I used it a lot to play games with ASCII graphics. Currently the battery is low.
286-12MHz, 1MB RAM, DR-DOS.
55 SX
I installed the first Windows version on this machine. Currently the battery is low.
386SX-16MHz, 1920kB RAM, DOS 3.3, Windows 1.04.
70
I found three of these computers in a trash container. I never quite succeeded in creating one working machine out of them.
80
I have two of these, with different specs: one I bought at the flea market and one I found in that trash container. Neither of them is in perfect order.

95XX

From about 1992 on, the new models had XGA 2 adapters, allowing 1024×768 at 256 colors or hi-color at 640×480. Their badges are light gray, with the IBM logo in shiny blue, thus it's easy to tell them apart even from a distance.

56 SLC2
Not really in use, mainly used for spare parts.
57 SLC3
My main computer to play 16-bit Windows games.
486DLC3-75MHz, 16MB RAM, DOS 5.0, Windows for Workgroups 3.11.
76i
In December 2005 I bought a bundle on eBay that contained no less than five of these machines, all with OS/2 installed. I always wanted a computer with OS/2, but never succeeded in installing it on one. Interesting enough, these have IDE harddrives, rare among the PS/2 series.
486DX2/66, 16MB RAM, OS/2.
77 486DX2
I have two of these, from the same bundle. One has a working OS/2 installation.
85
Two of them, from the same bundle.
95
Still from the same. It has no operating system installed.
