PS/2 Links
- ps-2.kev009.com is an archive of old documentation and sites
centric to IBM systems. This is a good place to download reference
disks, now that IBM does not support the PS/2 series any more.
- PC And PS/2 POST Error Codes
What is your computer trying to tell you when it boots up
and prints out a number? Its a POST code, Power On
Self Test error code. What this means is that your
IBM PC, PS/ 2, or clone has detected a problem. They are explained
below.
- Tavi PS/2 Pages:
You can get the IDMCA utility here to identify MCA adapter cards.
These pages are an attempt to bring together some of my
hard-won information about IBM PS/2 machines. Although mainly directed
at the MicroChannel systems (model 50 and above) there may be the
occasional snippet about the lower end ISA-based systems as
well.
- Personal System/2: A "sidebar" in the history of OS/2, this page
gives a very good overview over the series.
The Personal System/2 line of IBM computers, or PS/2 for
short, was introduced in April 1987. It was in many ways a radical
departure from the AT - perhaps too radical. The PS/2 had a number
of minor and three major new features: VGA, 1.44MB floppies and
Microchannel Architecture (MCA) bus.
- IBM's PS/2 series with OS/2 is part of a guide to multimedia
platforms.
- Computercraft: The PS2 Resource Center
- PS/2 FAQ v4.0 (1996)
- 9595 Ardent Tool of
Capitalism: Despite its name, this site provides lots of
information about the other types and the PS/2 series in general
as well.
- Peter Wendt's MCA Enthusiasts Page.
- Why do I like IBM PS/2?
- Comparison of the Performance of Various MCA Ethernet Adapters
- PS/2 File Library
by Dennis Smith, the only thing that's left of his PS/2 Page. The download
links are broken since IBM no longer supports the PS/2 series.
- comp.sys.ibm.ps2.hardware is
said to be one of the friendliest groups on the net.
Collectors
Accessories and Upgrades
Some companies still manufactures parts for the PS/2-series.
- ChipChat used to offer
soundcards (Soundblaster compatible) and memory expansion cards.
The homepage does not mention them any more, but there are still
seperate pages for the soundcards:
The memory expansion cards may have been discontinued altogether.
