Windows

16 Bit

I have now, once again, a computer running Windows 3.1 (actually, Windows for Workgroups 3.11), an IBM PS/2 57. On its page you will find a few links to Windows 3.1 games. I have windows 1.04 installed on another computer, an IBM PS/2 55SX. These are the only two versions of 16-bit Windows that I know. I must say that I like them both.

Turn off zip file support

In Run, type:

regsvr32 /u %windir%\system32\zipfldr.dll

This will unregister zip files, so you will have to associate them again with the archive utility of your choice. To re-enable zip file support, type the above without the /u.

Disable File Protection

A brute force method is to simply delete the directory Windows replaces the system files from. By default, this is %systemroot%\system32\dllcache.
