Object

Your goal in this game is to guide your snake into the white colored window at the top of the screen. You cannot turn the snake until it is stopped by hitting an object or a wall. The snake must reach the white window before your time limit is exceeded.

Gameplay

You begin the game on Level 1 with 10 lives. If you make it to the window before your time runs out, you will proceed to the next level. If your time runs out, you will be placed back 1 Level and you will lose 1 life. When you lose all of your lives, the game is over.

During game play, your snake will begin moving and it will not stop until it hits either: (1) a red or colored box (details below), (2) a wall, (3) it's own tail, or (4) the white window. Note that the snake cannot cross its own tail. You must frequently think ahead to ensure that you do not trap yourself with your tail or by entering a small opening in a block of boxes.

When you win and you start progressing to higher levels, the following features will change to make the game more difficult:

As you are playing the game, various options are available and are displayed at the bottom of the screen. To activate a function, press the highlighted key. You can Pause or Save the game, Concede the level if you get trapped, toggle the Sound, or Quit the game.

As you progress to higher levels, different colored objects will start to appear on the screen. These objects have the following functions:

Red
these boxes do nothing, except allow you to turn.
Green
each time a green box is hit, several more green boxes are drawn on the screen.
Blue
each time a blue box is hit, it increases your allotted time by 10 seconds. The maximum time you can earn is based on how many blue boxes exist on the screen.
Grey
instant loss of the level, if hit.
Purple
if this box is hit, your snake will continue on at some random location on the screen.
Light Blue
each time a light blue cross is hit, the speed of your snake will be decreased.
Brown
each time a brown cross is hit, it causes the game screen to be redrawn, and your snake starts again at the bottom.

Every 10 levels (10, 20, 30, 40…) you are given a chance to play a challenge level. Each challenge level is unique and presents increasingly difficult situations. If you complete the challenge level within the allotted time, you are given a bonus. If you do not complete the level, you are NOT penalized. You will only be given one chance at each challenge level.

For every 10,000 points, you will earn a red heart which will be displayed under your score. A heart may be used during game play by pressing the h key. It will give you a choice of either (1) increasing your life by 2 lives, or (2) increasing your life by 1 life and entering the secret passageway to other levels. If you enter the secret passageway you must then guide your snake to hit the number of the level you want to skip to. If you do not hit a number within the allotted time, you will stay at your current level.

There are many other tricks that you can learn by playing. These will not be detailed here, so that you can try and discover them on your own.
