Geoff Wyvill's old BASIC Awari has a few unique rule twists that make it easy to detect if another Mancala game is based on his code (not that anything speaks against this, mind youit was distributed in a book for exactly this purpose):
- You cannot make more than two moves per turn, even if you put the last stone into your kalah again on your second move.
- If you place the last stone into an empty pit, you put it and the contents of the opposing pit into your kalah, regardless of whether it was on your side or the side of your opponent.
- You do not omit your opponents kalah when placing stones.
I am aware of at least two games that took this code and wrapped it up in a prettier presentation, both for the Atari ST: H. Veludo's Awari and Atari Awari by Erictronics.
