Bad Toys

It's remarkable: Yes, there actually was a first-person shooter for Windows 3.1! It was developed by Tibo Software (Pavel and Libor Valach) in the Czech Republic and first released in 1995. This first version ran in black and white only, in a window up to 800×528. The development continued until 1998. The last released version, 1.95, needs WinG and runs in 256 colors. The engine is similar to Wolfenstein 3D.

Bad Toys is set in a toy factory that has recently been taken over by a military systems company and is now out of control. The idea is that the toys have become alive and very dangerous. The enemies are mostly variations of smily faces. Sound is used sparingly and the result is quite spooky.

You can download both the first and the last version of Bad Toys here. The full game can still be bought from Tibo Software.
