While I personally hate the term I do not see how I could describe Beyond in other words than as a rip-off of Brad B. Taylor's Beyond Columns. Basically everything is the same. The piece graphics have been slightly altered, not to advantage, and since the color gradient of the PC VGA original wasn't feasible on the 16-color ST, the background tiles simply come in four color schemes, a rather clumsy solution.
All this wouldn't be really bad if not for the fact that nowhere in the accompagnying text file you will find a mention of Brad B. Taylor and his game. The fact that this game is shareware, while the original was freeware, won't raise our opinion either.
I found evidence of one more game by Michael Allen, like this one published under the Kassel Software label, a quiz game from 1990. It may be assumed that there were more, but they seem to have been forgotten, maybe deservedly so.
