CD-Man has been hailed as the best Pac-Man clone ever, whether or not you subscribe to this superlative, it is a very interesting and remarkable game.
First of all, CD-Man is remarkable for its high-quality, RPG-style graphics (anybody who is interested in making console-style RPGs should study these graphics carefully). It is, of course, remarkable that it used these kind of graphics at all. Most Pac-Man clones were primarily concerned with emulating the look and feel of the original arcade machine as closely as possible, some even went so far to emulate the portrait screen by sacrificing real estate or by scrolling. The only real counter-example I know is Clean Sweep.
Furthermore CD-Man is remarkable as an early European PC game (not counting Russia, which had a development all of its own). It is not singular in this aspect (the same year saw Beetris, also in Sweden, Eat It in Finland and Tet42 in Germany), but it would be two more years till the PC really hit Europe.
