In the ports, the rather weird characters were changed to something more conventional, and, to be honest, better looking. The best version is probably, unsurprisingly, the one for the Amiga, closely followed by the one for the Apple ][GS.
Most PC screenshots I have seen show CGA graphics, but there may have been an EGA version too. Even the CGA graphics look surprisingly good.
