While there was an arcade machine named Digger by Sega/Gremlin in 1980, it has nothing to do with this game. Digger was, however, probably influenced by Dig-Dug and Mr. Do.
Chip's Challenge has a level named Digger (Level 19), with gameplay and a general appearance somehow similar to this classic.
