Dave Dobson

David McCullough Dobson is an associate professor in the geology department at Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina. He is writing games since he was a graduate student at the University of Michigan. As far as I know, there are three games by him:

• Bombs Away! (1995), the best Minesweeper clone for DOS I ever played.

• Centaurian (1996), an arcade game in the style of Bosconian for the Mac.
• Snood (1996), a Tetris-like game he originally wrote as a present for his wife Christina. It gained a sort of cult followership. It is available for Mac, DOS, and Windows.

In 1999, he sold Snood to Jeff Grogin, an attorney specializing in corporate law and president of Word of Mouse Games. Snood itself is by now more a company than a game.

While Dave Dobson enjoys a certain notoriety in the Macintosh world for his two later games, his authorship of Bombs Away! is practically unknown. Apart from writing computer games, he likes to play soccer and the tuba. He has written a book about endangered species in North America, "Can We Save Them?"
