Flip-It

What is it?
Othello for Amiga and PC by Adrian Millett, 1991.
What computer or emulator will it run on?
I guess any PC at all. It can even run in text mode.
Similar Games
Counter, Reversi by Ian Bell, Tiles.

Now this is all a bit confusing. In summer 2004 I bought an Amiga 1000 that came with a whole lot of disks, among them one with miscellaneous small games. One of these games was Flip-It, or FlipIt as it is called on that platform. I liked the look with the orange board and the blue and gray stones. The AI beat me easily, but then I could neither restart nor quit and had to turn off my Amiga.

I did some Internet research and soon found a DOS version that is still widely available from shareware archives. I took this screenshot, but for some reason didn't make a page immediately, and obviously forgot the game. Then I came across the screenshot again, but couldn't find the game any more. This annoyed me no end. Now I had this screenshot but couldn't do anything with it, for with the game lost, all the necessary details were missing. I don't know why it took me so long to just search the Internet again. Anyway, here it is.

For me, Flip-It holds a few special points of interest. In my collection, it is:

The latest version that you could download from the (meanwhile defunct) PC Solutions homepage looks a bit different. It has a gray background which I like less, but it is the full version. What I am offering here is an older shareware version that still looks like the screenshot. There is a Flip-It for Windows from 1994. This is an American game and has nothing to do with Adrian Millett's game. Same goes for the Atari ST game Flip It!, which is not even an Othello game.
