Hi-Color Games

This is a list of those DOS, Windows and Macintosh games that are capable of running in hi-color (thousands of colors) or higher. From 1998 on, this was pretty much standard, so I have included only DOS games from that year on.

Earth Invasion   W16     Arcade 93 US
Marathon       Mac FPS 94 US
Poker Party   W16   Mac Strip Poker US
Radon   W16     Tetris 95 US Morgan McGuire
Hardwood Solitaire     W32   Card US
Zork Nemesis DOS W16 W32 Mac Adventure 96 US
Super Othello       Mac Othello No
RusCell Malachite   W16     Card 97 By 800×600
Enemy Nations   W16 Win   RTS US up to 1600×1200
Cello     W32   Othello US James P. Ivers
Othello by CyLog     W32   Othello Gr Kostas Symeonidis
Bubbles       Mac Puzzle Ru Maxym Runov
Reversi: The Eclipse       Mac Othello Dk Lars Graulund
Simon       Mac Puzzle Ar Fernando Lagos
Stripper Poker DOS       Strip Poker Au
CRTetris DOS       Tetris 00 Gr

Nearly all of these games run at 640×480, thus requiring only 1 MB video RAM. While most 16-bit ISA VGA cards can be upgraded to that amount, they nevertheless won't support hi-color modes. About the only that do are the SPEA Video7 cards, which were used mainly for CAD work. These, however, are only partly fit for SVGA DOS games.
