Hot Cats is a strange adventure game by German developer Motelsoft (named after Hitchcock's Psycho). You are a photographer and wish to rent a studio, instead you wind up with a peep show that has yet to be furnished. You get the money you need by taking erotic photographs of the various models in the game and licensing them. Of course, the better your equipment, the more money you will get. The models will charge more for each consecutive session.
There is a sort of mystery plot featuring waxworks and genetic engineering, but I never could solve it and my suspicion grows that it cannot be solved. Once the peep show is opened you will meet your ex-wife there. Depending on the course of conversation you take, you will end up as a bum, with a lot of kids and a growing belly, or on a romantic island. That seems to be all the end there is.
Technically Hot Cats is interesting because it is intended to be played directly from the CD with no installation at all. The game just creates a directory on the C drive for its savegames. On a computer that is much faster than the Pentiums and Pentium IIs it was developed for, it is however advisable to copy the whole CD to a directory and play from there.
A planned sequel was dropped in 1999, but work started again in February 2004 and it was released in the same year. Hot Cats is in German only.
