Icebox

What is it?
A rather weird Tetris-inspired game, DOS/VGA, 1993. This game is from Russia.
What computer or emulator will it run on?
A 286, I guess. A Pentium already seems to be too fast.
Similar Games
Hextris (GreenGhost), Nuclear Waste Dump, Lunacy.

Let's see: How many candidates for the weirdest Tetris clone do I have? Well, first there's 1993tris, which is something like Spike Jones and his City Slickers murder Tetris. There's Zmeyelov (and its remake WildSnake), where the blocks are replaced by snakes. There's Tetriller, but well, that's probably meant to be a parody. And then there's Icebox.

Icebox is somehow Tetris inverted. You start out with two solid rows at the top. The tetraminoes you get are your mouse cursor. Use them as cookie cutters to cut shapes out of the solid rows. However, they work as toggles and will place a block if there was not one before. I'm not sure whether I have really understood the gameplay, especially since it does not perform correctly even on a Pentium 120.

The graphics may not look like much on the screenshot, when you are actually playing the game, they are quite impressive, especially when the blinking lights are on.
