the following categories:

- Macintosh Games for Download
- This is a list of Macintosh games you can download here from this
website or (in some rare cases) from the author's homepage or another
linked download page.
Latest addition 2008-11-02.
- Macintosh-First Games
- This is a list of games that were originally developed on and for
the Macintosh. About two third of them have never been available for
any other platform, while others have become all-time classics
regardless of platform.

- Black & White
- Here I list only those games
I'm convinced will display well on a compact Mac, not those
that will run without color, but seem to require a 640×480
screen. I have either tested them on my Macintosh SE or have seen a sufficiently convincing screenshots.

- Color
- These games will run on a 68030, sometimes less. They require
only 640×480 and 256 colors at most. I have usually played
them on my Performa 630, or
my Macintosh IIcx, or both.

- PowerMac
- The games in this category will usually run on any PowerMac,
some of them I have played on my Performa 630, just with some restrictions. In most cases,
they will be content with 256 colors and will require no more
than System 7.5. As far as I know it, I have given the minimum
system they will run on in this and the following categories.

- iMac
- The demands of these games are less humble. Usually
you will need a G3, at least thousands of colors at a high
resolution, and at least OS 8.5. These are all recent ports
of PC games, the release year of the original is listed in
the rightmost column, if different.
- OS X
- Just bought a Mac Mini and looking for some games to play on it?
Here are a few suggestions. With one exception they should all play
on a standard Mac Mini of the first generation (256M RAM).
