MacStones is a port of the Linux/Gnome game Same Gnome, which is a port of the Linux/KDE game KSame, which is a clone of the Macintosh game SameGame, which is a port or clone of the Unix game of the same name. How's that for a pedigree?
Craig Landrum knew SameGame only by hearsay, but he restored some of its functionality that was lost in the early versions Same Gnome, for example the number of selected blocks is displayed again. It should be noted that later Same Gnome versions added this too, and the two games are now more or less identical.
