I first heard of this game because Daphnis Marchand, the author of Tetr'Is ][, recommended it. It took me a while to dig up a copy, but luckily, few things ever vanish completely from the Internet, and after a couple of days, I had found it. And indeed, it deserves the praise. When played on the right platform, this is a very enjoyable Tetris.
Maxtris does not run under XP. It runs well under 9x (the test machine was a Pentium 120 with Windows 98), and it does run under DOSBox, but is a bit over-responsive to controls on this platform, it is difficult to move a piece just one column. It was overall most enjoyable on the Pentium, which is probably closest to the setup it was designed for and maybe on.
