Megatech Software was a division of Liberty International Components,
a distributor of passive electronic compenents.
They brought four Japanese PC-98 games to the US
market, one per year from 1992 to 1995. The translations were often bad, the
gameplay sometimes altered unnecessarily, but I guess we have to be grateful
for every Japanese PC game that is made available to the English speaking
world.
It seems that the last action of the division was to set up a website
some time in 1996 (it was up on November 10 at least). It outlived the
company and remained unchanged until at least October 1999.
In August 2000, it was replaced by nonsensical text, probably an early
example of a search engine catcher.
Two months later this was replaced by the typical search engine you
often find on vacant domains. The domain has been for sale since then.
In 2003 it was offered for $399, later potential buyers were asked to
make a bid.
The Megatech website was flashy (early Netscape style), but it was also
helpful. Apart from demos and sample graphics it had hint files which often
took on astonishing dimensions. Many of the walkthroughs for Megatech
games were little more than edited versions of those hint files. Everything
below is quoted from the Megatech website, and the design of this
page is fairly close to the original site's design. Click on a logo or button
for more information about the game.
Greetings from

ANIME
ladies, you've come to the right place. If you find any of this offensive,

MEGATECH
can deliver!

Your name is JR (or you could use your own name) and you're
the sharpest P.I. this side of Florida. An unexpected call from Faythe, an
old flame and school buddy, sends you to Cobra Island off the Florida Keys.
Her friends have been disappearing left and right and strange things have
been occurring there as well. Rescue Faythe's friends and they'll reward
you
very well. Find out who this Kaiser character is and restore Cobra
to its formal tranquil pleasure resort it's known for.

Since its release, it's been a focus of praise and disgust. Nearly banned
in Canada and target of hate mail, it's ruffled quite a few feathers. Why? We have no
idea. All we know is it's a great fighting game! And a top seller in a major retail
chain store. Here's the lowdown. You're a young and restless soul in a politically
correct society. The only place where you can bash a few heads without being scorned is
MeCha Island. It's a magnet for gamblers, drinkers, gorgeous women and most importantly,
fighters. But this ain't no barbaric glorified bar brawl; there are rules. First and
foremost, you MUST buy special Robo Armor in order to compete. Besides, you'd be turned
into road kill if you weren't adequately protected. Purchasing power-ups and other
goodies also comes in handy when battling the Robo Babes, the resident fighters of
MeCha. Defeat them and go on to challenge the Ultimate Champions. Are you good enough
to beat them? Find out and see.

Maybe you're in the mood for a role-playing of epic proportions.
Well
maybe not epic, but you're sure to have a smile on your face by the time
you're done with it. Your name is Desmond. Don't like it? Then use you own.
You're Desmond (place name here if you perfer), Slayer of Monsters, Avenger
of the Wronged, and Lover of Easy Women. Ever seen a resume' like this? After
having more than your share of very wicked ale, you end up in the small town of
Squalor Hollow where trouble's brewing. Being the hero type and having a few adventures
under your belt, you're sure you can clean up the riff raff here. Or can you?
Is Xentar's woes due to some brigands or could the emergence of monsters and demons
point to something more sinister. Find out and be sure to rescue the occasional
maiden is distress.

Man has finally colonized space and you're a resident in the colony of Omni.
In the mood for a revolution? The govermnent of Omni has declared independence and
earth forces are on their way to quell this revolt. You have the distinction of
commanding the Power DoLLS (Detachment of Limited Line Service), a special stike
force comprised of all-female members from all the armed forces. At their disposal
is an amazing arsenal of Omni's most advanced fighting machines, Power Loaders.
Large and extremely mobile, these thirty-foot-tall robots pack as much firepower
as a squad of tanks. And you'll need all the firepower you can carry 'cause you're
outnumbered ten to one. Choose the Power DoLLS for the missions and arm their vehicles
accordingly in this intense futuristic war sim. What they pack will ultimately
determine the outcome of the mission.
