Jeff Anderson writes in the documentation for Murmel:
Murmel is an ancient game passed on from generation to generation, upheld in sacred traditions. Actually it's a little game I made up, but that sounded neat. I think that other people have written games similar to this one, but I have been yet to see one.
Actually, it's neither. This is good old MaxIt with a VGA interface. Nothing has been added, though the final version (which was never finished) should have included a two-player option. The range of numbers is lower here than in all other MaxIt variants: They only go from 1 to 9, and there are no negative numbers.
Murmel, BTW, is the German word for marble, not the material, but the toy (as in Marble Madness).
