The ever-prolific William Soleau created quite a number of Pipe Mania clones, Oilcap is only the first of them. Whether it is also the best, I cannot say, since I have not tried them all, but I did like it better than Wallpipe. Gameplay is mostly unchanged, but in some levels there is an oil rig where your pipes must lead, basically the source-drain element from the Pipe Dream arcade machine.
As with many shareware games, the history of Oilcap is a bit obscure. The readme file claims that the first version dates back to 1988, which seems very unlikely, for that would make it older than Pipe Mania itself. The version you can download here, 7.1, dates from 1996. It was the final update, in the same year Soleau released Oilcap Pro for Windows. Continuous development seems to have ended in 1991 with version 6.2, so I have given that as the year.
