It took me a while to hunt down a copy of Othello F/X. Not long before it had caught my attention the Locatha website had shut down, and while it is still featured on many shareware websites, they usually just provided direct links instead of hosting it locally. But in the end I found one that did.

When I finally had it, I was a bit disappointed. Sure, the board looks good and has a rather unique design, but the animated letters of the title get annoying, as are the sound effects that cannot be turned off, the optic is further disfigured by a bar on top that I did not include in the screenshot, and the AI is ridiculous (there are no difficulty settings), I was white in the screenshot above, look how fast I got a corner!

To top it all off, the game tries to open the defunct Locatha website as often as possible: the aforementioned bar serves no other purpose, after each game you are invited to upload your score, and if you open and then close the about screen, it will open the website, too.

So I offer it almost reluctantly. But then I guess that's the price you have to pay for getting the full version for free. Originally, all the Locatha games were shareware, but were re-released as freeware later.
