Famicom/NES Games

There are probably more emulators for the NES than for anything else. It was an extremely popular console, in its time, it ruled absolute. I cannot quite share the enthusiasm, but then I simply lack the nostalgy, I never owned any type of console.

Emulators

NESticle: still seems to be the best NES emulator. There is a DOS and a Windows version, both are more or less the same, they run only in fullscreen mode. However, the Windows version worked better with my WingMan. Some say it's highly inaccurate, so it might not be well fit for action games. I do remember that it didn't work well with Soko-ban.
LoopyNES: A tiny NES emulator for DOS. It supports sound and joystick and runs well under Windows. If you are not used to it it is a bit irritating that it stores all settings in the executable itself, which is therefore rewritten with every change you make.
RockNES: Available for DOS, Windows and Linux. Windows version requires DirectX 8. A Mac version has been created by Richard Bannister, it needs a CPU of at least 1GHz to run the emulation at full speed. The RockNES Linux Archives still carry version 1.830 from 2001-03-04, the first release.
GodleNES: A NES emulator for Atari Falcon.
