What is it?
What charmed me immediately about PROTO is that although it is a Windows 95 program, it completely conserves the look and feel of a Windows 3.1 game, from the fake LED numbers right down to the 16-color Windows palette. I must try once whether it runs under Win32s.
PROTO (which, by the way, expands to PROgressive Tetris Outline, not that that makes much sense) is a fairly classic Tetris, but uses pentominoes. Only pentominoes. Pentix and Stakan had mixed these with some smaller pieces, but PROTO is consequent. That makes it a lot tougher to play.
