Roberta Williams
Roberta Williams was the great pioneer of graphic adventure games, starting with Mystery House, best known for the King's Quest series. Her last game was the seven CD monster Phantasmagoria, which was only moderately successful. The live actor/full motion video craze, while it was just a passing fancy, proved fateful for many an adventure designer. Only Jane Jensen with her Gabriel Knight series survived it really well.
