There are a couple of games where you control a ball. Rock'n Roll is among the more popular and better known of these. In 2004, it was remade as Hazard Ball for Windows and later ported to some handhelds. Daniel Heck named it as one of the inspirations for Enigma. Ball Blazing Fantasy was probably inspired by it too.
Where Rock'n Roll is different from other games of its kind is that it incorporates gameplay elements like keys and power-ups, elements more common in action-adventures and shoot-'em-ups.
The DOS version supports AdLib and Hercules.
