Rooster is a classic top-down shoot-'em-up in the style of Alien Breed, a genre that was always immensely popular on the Amiga. I came across it when I put up a page for Uncover It and did some research about Mirage Software. Rooster was one of the two PC games they offered for download. Unfortunately, the downloads no longer work (those for the 8-bit atari games still do).
Mirage Software (also Mirage Media, then Mirage Interactive, meanwhile probably defunct), one of the earliest and biggest Polish game companies, is astonishingly little known. Rooster was, when I first put up this page in 2004, as good as forgotten. Meanwhile there is an entry at Hall of Light, but few other sites know about it.
There is a British company Mirage Software, known mainly for Interactive Fiction adventures for the Oric-1. As far as I know, there is no connection between the two.
