It is amusing how contrarily this game has been judged by different reviewers (see below). Let me confess from the beginning that I side with Atebash: This is a great little puzzle game, even if you are not keen on ogling chrome-plated females.
Sexy Droids is a remake of Blue Angel 69 (only difference are the graphics), which in turn is a slightly altered implementation of MaxIt, a BASIC game that was wide-spread in the early 80s. MaxIt is a very solid and entertaining game concept, and Sexy Droids is a good implementation of this concept. You can't go wrong with this one.
The DOS version, unfortunately, has no soundcard support, so it might be a good idea to turn off the music.
Sexy Droids is a very simple jigsaw variant that's downright boring. Two players, one of which could be the computer, take turns opening tiles on a grid to uncover a picture underneath. Each tile has a number on it, representing the number of points you can win. The objective is to accumulate more points than your opponent before the picture is fully uncovered or unscrambled at harder difficulty level. Perhaps the game's biggest appeal is the number of scantily-clad androids that are the subject of pictures underneath the tiles. But then again, you'll wonder why Magic Bytes didn't just use human models to get *cough* the appropriate effect on male audience. Perhaps they were trying to distance themselves from the likes of Strip Poker? Whatever the reason, Sexy Droids is a thoroughly uninteresting, average puzzle games that everyone can afford to miss.
Don't think that this is an adult game, it is a PUZZLE! You and your friend (or a computer) have to pick numbers on a board and try to collect as much as possible. Whoever gets more is the winner and as a reward you will get to see the pic of a half-naked female android. Nope, no real women in this game.
This is one great puzzle game if you ask me. Make sure you play it.
Sexy Droids is a remake of Blue Angel 69 from 1989. The two games are mostly identical, only the graphics are different. Still in 1992, it was licensed by Penthouse and released as Penthouse Hot Numbers featuring models of this magazine.
There are a few more implementations of MaxIt, but not many. The concept of rewarding the player of a puzzle game with some sort of erotic picture for each completed level, on the other hand, is widespread. Examples are Porntris, Uncover It, and X Rock. Of course, it is the heart and soul of all strip poker games. Of these, Teenage Queen has a somewhat similar atmosphere.
