For years, I had a screenshot of the first level of this game on the main Soko-ban page without really knowing what it was. There was no readme in the archive I had downloaded, and the game itself was probably an earlier version that did not have a title screen yet. I tried to play it in Nesticle, but it reacted a bit hysterical to the controls, which is deadly in a game where one step too far can mean you have to restart the level. So the only thing I could do was take that screenshot.
When I rewrote the Soko-ban page in November 2007, I found a more complete archive with a readme, and I discovered that while it won't run in RockNES or LoopyNES at all, it plays decently in FCEUltra. So what is it, now? It is an unfinished freeware clone. It has only three levels, but each of them uses different graphics. It does not have any scoring system or clock. Once you have finished the third level, the screen turns gray, that's all.
As for the year, I cannot give it with certainty. The readme contains no date, so I took the timestamp of the files in the archive. The game might be older, but it definitely cannot be newer.
