- What is it?
- A Tetris Clone,
1993,
DOS/CGA.
- What computer or emulator will it run on?
- Probably any PC ever built, as long as it has at least a
CGA card. If anything, it seems to run slower on fast computers.
- Similar Games
- Pentix,
PROTO,
Slime.
There are a few things that make Stakan interesting in my eyes:
- It uses CGA graphics, one of the latest use
of CGA I have found (the latest until I added
Lumpy Tetris on 2006-07-18).
- It was one of the first two Ukrainian games I
played (the other one was Carnivores 2).
- Its download size is only 4kB, of course,
in this aspect it is now beaten by TinyTris.
Stakan is a bit like Pentix, it has
some five-square blocks and some very small ones, you can not only
rotate them, but flip them, too. An interesting combination.
Unfortunately, there is something unfinished about this game. There
seems to be no system of levels, it just goes on and on indefinitely
at the same speed, and does not even save high scores.
