Tank Wars is the name of two PC games that have little in common except that they are both artillery games and are both from the USA.
This game is probably the oldest artillery game for the PC, at least I haven't found an older one yet: It is from 1986 and runs in CGA. I took a few screenshots but don't remember much about it.
This game is from 1990 and runs in VGA. Though not as old as Cody Snider's game, it is still among the oldest artillery games for the PC, along with Bang! Bang!, a Windows game. Indeed there seems to be a gap between the lively development of the late 70s and early 80s and the rediscovery at the beginning of the 90s, bridged only by the German Atari ST game Ballerburg.
