Runs in 384x240 true colour mode so it is happier on RGB monitors. Will work on VGA to a lesser extent.
The Atari Falcon was one of these computers that simply came too late. An ST with greatly enhanced graphics capabilities, it was released in 1992, when the ST platform, and Atari as a company, were already in decline. Still there were and are some diehards that develop for it. Some of these diehards live in lovely Welshpool, Powys, Wales, and call themselves the Reservoir Gods.
Besides coding for the Falcon, the Reservoir Gods show a true obsession with multiplayer. They add it wherever humanly possible, even to Shisen-Sho. You can race against your opponent, or just play along independently, or perform a tournament over a certain number of rounds.
Later, the Reservoir Gods weren't all that proud of this game
any more. Not our finest hour, they say, horrible menu system,
they say. They totally remade it soon afterwards, with more
refined graphics, stunning music and loads of extra options and
features.
Still it was the first version that caught my interest.
It runs at a very uncommon screen resolution (384×240) and I
like the simple, traditional graphics better.
