William Shatner's TekWar

TekWar screenshot: The infamous brick Ferrari.

What is it?
The first FPS using the Build Engine, 1995, DOS/VGA, or 640×480. This game is from the United States.
What computer or emulator will it run on?
Officially a 486, but I'd go for a Pentium.
Similar Games
Blake Stone, Rise of the Triad, Bad Toys.

This game is mainly here because of my interest in the Build Engine. It came out the same year as the strange RPG/FPS hybrid Witchaven, and has far more claim to the fame of being the first Build game, for it already had all the features of Duke Nukem 3D: outdoor scenes, mirrors, moving vehicles, even fountains.

The screenshot should explain sufficiently why it wasn't Duke Nukem 3D. Nothing against low-polygon models, guys, but this is ridiculous. The brick Ferrari is only the most obvious of shortcomings. Buildings look like cardboard cutouts, enemies float in the air. While you can look at yourself in the mirror, your sprite doesn't change with the weapon you're toting.

Just like the graphics gameplay was badly executed. For example there are cops around that start shooting you as soon as you pull a gun in public, yet they do not mind your enemies doing the same at all. There are innocent civilians all around, but killing them has no real consequences. And all the levels are more or less the same.

Which is a pity, for with a better execution this might have been an interesting game.
