Incredible as it may seem, this opulent Tetris with SVGA
graphics and Soundblaster/GUS music was coded in
QBasic. There are quite nice animations
when you clear a row, but I had little luck catching them in a
screenshot.
You can choose to play it Nintendo style
or Tengen
style,
but I haven't discovered any difference between the
two. The readme explains it like this:
In my game, TENGEN mode is the following: it takes 30 lines to step up one level (the speed increases 2-times faster), bonuses between each level and the scoring is a little bit different. For the rest, it's exactly the same good old tetris game!
In that same readme, Daphnis Marchand recommends James Prudente's Maxtris; it took me a while to find it, but now you can download it here, too.
