Video Strip Poker Supreme

Even the best things can still be improved, for example Torquemada's Video Strip Poker. When it came out in 2002, it was certainly the most advanced strip poker game on the market, yet it lacked certain things we have grown accustomed to, most notably speech. It was a glorious yet silent movie.

There was, of course, a good reason for this. Video Strip Poker was a European production, intended for a multi-language market. Creating so many speech files would undoubtedly have strained the budget of the project beyond limits. But one of the perks of success is that you get money for more costly projects, and Torquemada's new game, Video Strip Poker Supreme, now features digitized speech in ten languages.

Additionally, there is a new amount of interactivity. You can offer the ladies a drink, and they will sometimes offer to take something off they haven't lost yet. Of course, both will cost you. Right now there are four opponent, more will undoubtedly be added:

The demo features April, whom you can play down to her underwear, then it's over. On the whole, I was less impressed by Video Strip Poker Supreme than I was by the original Video Strip Poker. One nice new feature is that the game automatically selects the cards you are likely to change, so apart from the rare cases where you sacrifice a pair hoping for a flush or straight, you do not have to select them manually. I couldn't quite figure out what the point of the offer drink feature is, except that you see your opponent holding a glass afterwards.

Video Strip Poker Supreme certainly has a higher video quality than the original game (now supposed to be named Video Strip Poker Classic, though I haven't seen any change on the website yet), but it doesn't have the same atmosphere. There, the demo's opponent would walk into the room, sit down by a table. Now, she's on a bed right from the beginning, making suggestive gestures. It seems that strip poker is once again becoming just another adult entertainment. Of course, this may be exactly what the public wants.
