Wari: The Ancient Game of Africa

What is it?
A Mancala game (Oware rules), 1995, DOS/EGA.
What computer or emulator will it run on?
Any PC with EGA graphics.
Similar Games
Pachisi, Kalah, Chinese Checkers.

Not quite as beautiful as the Chinese Checkers from the same software house, ImagiSOFT's Wari is nevertheless a fine example of late hi-res EGA graphics, and, I think, the first Mancala to ever use an animated hand that distributes the marbles.

The player selection screen shows you four players with their animated avatars: the giraffe, a beginner; the lion and the zebra, intermediate; and the elephant, an expert. You can set each of these four to player (your avatar), auto (the computer), or off. This is a bit confusing at first (Constructor uses a similar selection system, but here there is really room for four players), and of course two of the players have to be off, but it also means you can pit two of the players against each other in a demo game, or use it as an electronic board for two human players. The elephant is available only in the registered version, which, however, can meanwhile be downloaded from the ImagiSOFT website for free.
