dear visitors

In autumn 2000 I finally made it up to the far North of Europe - Norway was on my list for a long time. The cold wildness of this rough country attracted me since I was a child.
This time I had the perfect car for that kind of trip, a hotelroom on wheels so to say, but a great visual attraction as well, wonderful to drive - briefly just THE car for me.

Of course I made many photos of the fascinating country. Most of them had to stay aside though, still I posted some 110 pictures on this site, most of them are taken by myself, some are taken from books and modified by myself (recogniseable by a little sign). Presenting them was logical in the concept and does not injure any copyright domaines.
You will find the photos with their clickable names in between the according chapters.

Even if there is no artisitc ambition behind the photos there might be some images of stave churches or other objects that are hard to find elsewhere, doing nice postcard images was not my intention - I portrayed Norway with my eyes - just as I did with the commnets on the trip that are very personal at times.

The text is a chronical report, it's many details did not allow a short and easy to handle list of subjects - I had to install chapters, like in a book; still I tried to enease navigating in dividing the huge amount of information into 10 sequences, as you can see in the list above. But better is always the more detailed pathfinder (chapters) - so please find your way back to the main menue with the back icons and chose anew what you want to read or look at.
You will find interesting links in the text - where they belong - as well as in the link-section.

I got the idea of doing a page about the trip by the German hearsedrivers page, who even helped me to find the hearse in offering an interesting forum to visitors, but let me also mention my old friend Alexander Karla who runs one of the best hearsedrivers' clubs in Germany. As a former undertaker he has endless skill on hearses and helped me a lot with the car when I was in Germany to buy it.

We even had in mind to install a page on hearses in general; Alexander has an enormous collection of photos, magazines and infos on hearses - he's addicted since he was a child.....so everyone can imagine that this would take some time to do, hopefully we'll be able to let more people participate in this morbide hobby.

I met many interesting people in Norway - such as a "colleague" in mind - the Grandfather of a young man in Stavanger who still drives one of the hearses he used as an undertaker himself. The business was always in the family and so I got many interesting stories and pictures about Norwegian hearses and undertakers.

I had a great time in Norway - most of the trip I was alone - the real way of travelling I think. But I also had great times with my friends there - hail to them on this point.

May all of you roll in blackness!
