Material and Techniques:
Every "Gieszer Doll" is a highly perfected, authentic replica of a
famous antique doll. The heads and porcelain-parts are moulded from white
porcelain and burned in the fire. This ensures that the basic colour of the
porcelain cottespond exactly to the one of the antique original.
The heads are tinted with a skin-colour and the
surface structure of the porcelain is sensitively reproduced just like the
original. Also the painting follows the strict guidelines of the antique models,
resulting in an exact reproduktion.
The bodies are created, according to the
original prototypes. Here, materials such as wood, paper-mache and goat-leather
are used. A special feature of Margit Gieszer´s Bru-dolls is the faithfull
recreation of the so called
"Bru-Chevrot"
- body.
This particular body is highly priced among
collectors for it´s unusual beauty perfection, and is seen as especially
valuable.
The body has an internal structure of metal and
wood, and is covered with the finest goat-leather.
There is a big demand for the dolls because
they are unique in the world according to the high quality of reproduction.
Only pure mohair or genuine European hair is
used. Upon request the hair can also be traditionally hand-styled with the
greatest care and attention to detail.
The Gieszer-Doll´s wardrobe is made true-to
fashion, from the most sumptuos old materials and laces. Each particular doll
has it´s own outfit.
Due to the time-consuming nature of creating
each doll individually it is only possible to produce a limited number of dolls
every year. Therefore you take into account that the delivery may take some
time. Dolls can also be delivered unclothted,if desired.
