Shuddering
candles
When
Shri Mataji was giving vibrations, or curing, or generally
working on someone by giving vibrations, very often a
person would kneel at Her Feet. Shri Mataji would be
looking at their back and then suddenly She would look up
and there would always be a candle put in front of Her. The
moment She would look up at the candle, the flame would
shudder. Then She would look at another flame, because
there would always be two or three candles. As She looked
at a particular flame, that candle would judder as She
would be driving the negativity out and into the flame. It
was fantastic to watch.

Like a
sunlight
There
was a miracle, which I experienced when we had a seminar in
the English countryside. It was a long time ago, 1979, and
Shri Mataji came. It was a very dark day with no sun, heavy
clouds. It was very, very dull and heavy. Shri Mataji was
talking to us and saying that She expresses the powers of
Shri Krishna and Lord Jesus: all of the aspects of the
divine.
She said it was like the sunlight. At that moment the beam
of sunlight came out of nowhere and shone on Her head and
went away. To prove it, She said that the beam of sunlight
should come again on Her head. That happened two or three
times. Out of nowhere the sun came. I witnessed this
together with about fifty other Sahaja Yogis who where
present at that time.

Air
One
day some of us went to meet Shri Mataji at Heathrow
Airport. Shri Mataji was coming from America with Harry J.
As we were approaching the airport, we noticed that the sky
looked extremely unusual. It was sunset, but not a sunset I
have ever seen before. The sky was of so many different
colours, with such breathtaking intensity, that we were
stunned. The colours kept changing very fast and they were
in front of us, behind us and just everywhere. It was a
feast to the eye and a masterpiece of artwork.
Harry told us later on that when the plane was circling
above the airport, Shri Mataji was playing with the sky,
asking Harry:
“Should I add some pink here and some yellow there?
What do you think?” Harry said Mother was moving Her
hands and the colours were changing all the time.

Water and light
Some
time back, just before the programs at Ganapatipule
started, seven Sahaja Yogis and myself went with Shri
Mataji to do a public program in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra
some way south of Mumbai. After the program we went to see
a Ganesha temple near by.
This Ganesha temple is at sea level and sometimes the sea
enters into the temple at high tide. Shri Mataji then
entered inside the temple, where the swayambhu was at sea
level, to check the vibrations for about ten minutes. A
swayambhu is a stone, or statue, which has come out of the
earth and radiates vibrations naturally. Shri Mataji came
out and told us that this swayambhu was very much awakened
and very powerful. In fact, it is much more powerful than
any of the astavinayak, or eight swayambhus of Ganesha,
which are known in Maharashtra, India. It has powerful
vibrations of Shri Ganesha and also the very powerful
vibrations of the ocean, the power of Shri Adi Guru
Dattatraya. So by coming here at least two chakras can get
cleared out, Mooladhara and Void. The deities governing
those two are Shri Ganesh and Shri Adi Guru.
After this we all decided to go and watch the sunset and
have a paddle in the sea, which helps to clear these
chakras within each of us.
“Now I am going to show you a miracle. Look out over
the ocean and tell me - what you see?” said Shri
Mataji.
“Mother, we see the waves all coming in our direction
from all sides. The waves are coming all coming in our
direction, towards us.”
“Now watch. I will change the direction of the
waves,” said Shri Mataji. She then walked towards the
south and the waves all went in that direction and followed
her. Then Shri Mataji walked north, that is in the other
direction, the waves all went that way. When Shri Mataji
stood still, all of the waves also stood still. The waves
seemed to be waiting for the next instruction.
“You may be having doubts and thinking that possibly
the wind is doing this, so I will show you again.”
She then did everything all over again. Shri Mataji said
this was the second time that She had done this miracle.
The first time was in America.
After we had finished at the Ganesha temple, we went back
to Jaigad to wait for the ferry. By this time the sun had
set and we were all waiting on the quay.
“Now I will show you all another miracle,” said
Shri Mataji, “The Ganesha temple is in that
direction,” She pointed. “Now look. Do you see
anything over there?”
“No, Mother, we can’t see anything,” we
all said.
Shri Mataji again pointed in the same direction and asked
us to look again. As we looked, we could see, slowly
appearing, a huge stream of light. It was like a huge
cylindrical circle of light, as if thousands of volts were
coming out of Mother Earth and going straight up into the
heavens.
“There is no other light around here, not even
moonlight, so that light is coming from the Ganesha
temple,” said Shri Mataji. “This light will not
stop until I tell it to. This light is coming from the
swayambhu of Shri Ganesha and I am taking it out.”
Shri Mataji then asked us if we all had seen this light,
and if so She would stop it. All the Sahaja Yogis present
said that they had all seen it and that Shri Mataji could
now stop it from coming out of the Ganesha temple. The
light was there for about ten minutes. We were all very
lucky to see such a thing and I have not seen anything like
that since then.

Fire: just
doing aarti
Once
in Shri Mataji’s house in Brompton Square, She was
walking around and directing people who were helping out
there. She would tell us where decorations were to go and
what colour this door or that window frame was to be
painted.
It was a mess to begin with. One always has to make a mess
to create a house. One day Shri Mataji was wearing a highly
inflammable synthetic nylon sari and walking around amid
the rubble and dust. Some other people had been working in
the room too and someone had left a blowtorch burning. It
was pointing into the middle of the room and Shri Mataji
walked in. Shri Mataji walked towards the blowtorch and did
not appear to notice it. As She passed very close to it,
the flame leapt right out of nozzle and went completely
around Shri Mataji two or three times, at the height of Her
knees, forming a blue ring of fire a few centimetres away
from the sari, then back into the torch.
While all this was happening I was horrified and took a
dive across the room to move the torch. I landed in an
undignified heap on my stomach at Shri Mataji’s feet,
having grabbed the blowtorch in order to point it away from
Her. When we realized what had happened, we looked up in
amazement to find Shri Mataji smiling down at us.
“I am the fire, how could it hurt me?” said
Shri Mataji. “The fire is just doing aarti to
me.”
She calmly went on Her way to supervise putting in some
pipes in the next room.

Holy fire of Kundalini
When I had only been in Sahaja Yoga
a few months, I went to work in a summer camp for children.
On the afternoon of the last day, there was a great
festival with a huge fire in the centre of the camp. That
evening I was passing the place where the campfire had been
and I noticed that nothing was left of this great fire, no
smoke, not even the slightest glow, just the cold ashes. I
sat down on the beach nearby. A French colleague called
Nathalie approached and sat down and we started talking.
The conversation quickly turned to Sahaja Yoga and we
talked together for about an hour and a half. The only word
I knew in French to name the Kundalini awakening was
“illumination” — enlightenment. The very
moment I held my hand above her head, at the instant that I
felt the coolness emanating from her head, indicating her
Kundalini, on my palm, her face shone suddenly with a
strong ruddy light. I half turned and saw the fire,
previously inert, burning brightly, flames leaping one or
two metres in the air. This lasted not even a minute and
the flames disappeared without leaving any signs of a fire.
I told Nathalie to write everything into her diary. Like
me, she was completely stunned. A few days later I received
a letter from her. She had looked at the calendar for that
day in her diary and discovered that it was the day of
Saint Nathalie.
Christ-style
miracle
For a
number of years Shri Mataji has done a Sahaja Yoga
introductory programme at Versiliana, in northern Italy, at
an open air café or tea garden.
One time She had lunch with two Sahaja Yogis and a
journalist, Romano Battaglia the organiser of the
programme. She was explaining Sahaja Yoga to him. At a
certain point Romana Battaglia, said ‘Jesus Christ
did transform the water into wine’. According to the
bible that we have today, Christ went to a marriage at
Cana, and when the host ran out of wine He changed water
into wine, and it was said to be the best, much better than
the earlier wine which had run out.
Shri Mataji answered Battaglia saying ‘this, I can
also do’ and She put two fingers in a glass of water
and after She gave it to him to drink. Romana said, that
this was normal water, but was also like wine. Shri Mataji
also said that Christ did not make the water into wine. She
explained that this must have been a mistranslation,
because to make an alcoholic beverage it would be necessary
to let it ferment, which is a process similar to rotting.
And this would have taken time. She told the journalist to
drink the contents of the glass, because it would be good
for him.

Water:
reducing pollution
In the
summer of 1991 a few hundred Sahaja Yogis from the city of
Tagliatti, near Samara, Russia, came together for a seminar
on the banks of the Volga River. On the Saturday afternoon
after our arrival, we all sat for meditation in the open
air on the bank of this great river.
The next day we were able to see in the local newspaper,
which regularly reports this information — the Volga
being normally extremely polluted — that the
concentration of active bacteria in the river flowing
through the city had dropped by an unprecedented thirty
percent since our collective meditation.

Water: “The Thames is the Kundalini of England”
In
1982, on the day after the weekend seminar finished, there
were just a few of us still there and Shri Mataji took us
up to the Seven Springs above Cheltenham, England. She took
Her shoes off and went down to where there is some water on
the stones there. There are seven little springs coming out
from under a big rock.
It wasn’t flowing much and there were flies around
the place. We all put our feet into the water of the
springs, but it was very cold. Then when Shri Mataji put
her feet in, the water started to flow and all the flies
went away and it became a much nicer place. The water level
rose up once Shri Mataji’s feet were there. It was
really nice.
She put Her Feet in it and said, “the Thames is the
Kundalini of England.” She explained that Thames is
for tamasa, which is the left side. And London is the city
of the moon - Luna. The moon is associated with our left
side too.
“Now, this will clear England out,” She said,
and the Thames has been very vibrated. It was a very
polluted river then, but since then it has been cleared out
on the physical level as well and is much cleaner.

Some weeks later we all went down to Exeter in the south
west of England. A few days before Shri Mataji had asked us
to bring water from the different rivers of England for her
to vibrate. I went to the Seven Springs and took some water
from there. I had not been there when Mother had put her
feet in the water after the seminar and did not know She
had been there. The water seemed to have good vibrations,
but I thought perhaps the springs were naturally
auspicious. When I gave Her the water, She said “But
this is already vibrated,” telling us that the water
is vibrated for always not just then.

Snow:
avoiding sinking
In the
winter of 1986, I was walking across a snowfield. There was
a layer of soft powdery snow with a thin icy crust, which
was just too soft to carry the weight of my body and my
steps sank deep into the thick snow. The field was lit by
the moon and I could see that there was no obstacle to my
journey, so I said to myself, ‘Why not just trust
Shri Mataji.’ At first, I was not sufficiently
confident and I felt a little afraid.
Then I realized that the thin hard layer of ice on the
surface of the snow would be able to carry my weight if I
could surrender myself completely, and trust in Shri
Mataji’s power that She gives us. It worked. The
first step: sinking, second – third - fourth step
sinking, fifth step resisted, sixth sinking, seven, eight,
nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen — it is working,
I don't sink any more! I felt the protection of Shri
Mataji’s power. But as soon as there was I started
thinking about whether it was possible my feet sank into
the snow again — as in life, in general.
